Violent crimes are said to be on the rise in Washington D.C., prompting law enforcers to team up with federal authorities in an effort to help local police fight such crimes in the area. Under the new partnership, FBI agents will be riding with D.C.’s homicide units, providing additional manpower, faster access to extensive databases, and assistance in intelligence gathering.
While maintenance of peace and order is vital to any community, hasty arrests and prosecution can violate the rights of those accused of violent crimes people who stand to face long periods of jail time unless their defenses are well-prepared, and presented professionally.
Police Arrest Teenaged Suspects in Violent Crime
Three teenagers were recently arrested and charged for the alleged first-degree murder of a 22-year old man in Montgomery County, Maryland. Police claimed that the three suspects are members of the MS-13 gang and that they were allegedly with the 22-year old victim a day before the victim was found dead in a wooded area. The victim allegedly bore multiple gunshot wounds and detectives maintain that they have recovered the weapon they allege was used in the killing.
Investigators admit that they were uncertain about the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and called for possible witnesses to come forward with any information on the incident. Two of the suspects were detained without bond.
